This week’s log comes to us courtesy of a friend and colleague, Paul Greiner. A note on “wanting” versus “doing.” Take it away Paul…

“I want to make a difference.”
“I want to sleep for like, a day.”

“I want this to work.”
“I want to do it my own way.”

Which is “better” to want?
Which one do you really want? How do you know?

Maybe “wanting” doesn’t make a difference?
Maybe it’s a poor gauge, and doesn’t merit the attention it gets.

Perhaps…
the world doesn’t care what you want…
the world isn’t moved by what you want…

The world is moved by action.
In fact, movement is action.

(read that line again, and get it)

The only question is, action for and from what?
What you describe from the stands as “what I must have wanted”, or
what you committed yourself to?

We always “do what we want to”, and therefore it’s irrelevant.
It’s a story…what did Shakespeare say?…”told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.
Our opportunity, and it is real and fresh in every new moment, is to do what works.

So, what now?
