What does it mean to have a Message?

How is that different than having a purpose?

Your Message is the truth that you uniquely know. The thing that is yours to share that would bring a goodness to our world that could otherwise not be experienced. Because you are the only you, and even if someone else feels the way you feel, they will not live the way you live. Not precisely. And they do not have to. And neither do you. But you could.

Your purpose is how you bring your truth, your Message, to others. It’s the transcendent driving force, according to David York, that pulls you to deeper levels of investment and higher levels of achievement and fulfillment.

Allow me to demonstrate…

My Message is that you have a Message. We all do. It’s in us, even if we don’t acknowledge it. Not only do we have a Message, we have a responsibility to carry it for the benefit and edification of others. In doing so, we edify ourselves.

My purpose is to help others expand to their full potential. Which I believe is only possible when you acknowledge, embrace, and live your Message.

How do I know this?

There was no lighting from heaven, carried on angel’s wings. No tectonic shift.

Only the rising and setting of the sun, day after day. As we made our rotations, I felt and thought.

I felt something urging me. I thought, “What could this feeling mean?”

I felt something was wrong. I thought, “But everything seems fine.”

I felt there might be more to me. I thought, “But what if I’m wrong?”

I felt fear and doubt and alone. I thought, “If I don’t do something then I’ll surely regret it.”

So I decided to try. Which is where I find myself today. Trying to do what I believe I’m supposed to be doing. As I do, I’m reminded that a Message is worth carrying even when it feels heavy to do so at times, even when I’m not sure where it’s taking me.
